As its name implies, support for vocational nursing education and networking opportunities are the major purposes for the non-profit California Vocational Nurse Educators organization. Our goals are to offer biannual conferences with relevant continuing education subjects for vocational nurse educators and provide an opportunity for networking with peers to share innovative ideas. We support activities of allied health professionals and legislators in matters, which affect health care in California, take stands on issues affecting vocational nursing education and promote the image of the vocational nurse as a valuable member of the health care team. We promote communication with the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians and support student vocational nurses and vocational nursing educators through scholarships. CVNE
normally has two Conferences each year, one the latter part of April
and one the middle of October held on Friday and Saturday. The spring meeting is
held in northern California and the fall meeting is in southern California. Continuing
Education credit is given for the meetings.
Members are persons who are actively involved in vocational nursing education, former active members of CVNE who are retired, and persons who have provided outstanding service to CVNE. Associate members are persons whose job or interest may or may not be directly related to nursing education. Dues are $40 for active members, payable in the fall. The officers, an Executive Board, are the President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, and not less than four board members who represent different geographical areas of the state. Officers serve a term of two years. Half of the officers are elected or re-elected each year in the fall and take office during the next spring conference. The Executive Board establishes liaison with selected organizations for the advancement of vocational nursing education. Standing committees carry out the work of the organization and are as follows: Constitution and By-Laws, Legislation, Continuing Education, Membership, Education, Newsletter/ Publicity, Finance, Nominations/Elections, History, Program, Hospitality, Site Arrangements, Liaison Representatives, and Website. |
