CVNE Scholarships
Heart Around Healthworker
Dundus Flaherty was an LVN whose family wished to honor her life and career by promoting the education of other LVNs. The family donated a substantial sum of money that served as the seed money for the original scholarships, which were first distributed in the mid 90s. The corpus was deposited in a savings account to earn interest. It was determined that the scholarships would be in the amount of $250.

Previously, scholarships have also been given by CVNE to honor the memories of
Agnes Fortney, a longtime LVN and Executive Director of the CLVNA.
Carolyn Heintz, a well-respected and beloved vocational nurse educator who served in many capacities on the CVNE Board, including president, 1995 - 1997.
Sandy Dawson, who was director of the Chaffey College Vocational Nursing Program and a strong advocate of LVNs and vocational nursing education.

The tradition of advancing LVNs through education and service, embodied in the activities of these women, has continued through scholarships awarded each fall and spring to a program whose name is drawn at random from those represented at the conference. The program has the freedom to use the funds as they see fit, as long as the money benefits vocational nursing students.

The CVNE scholarship fund has kept growing through the generosity of CVNE members. Now we are asking that you make a contribution designated for the scholarship fund. The check can be made out to "CVNE Scholarship Fund" and sent in with your conference registration or given to our treasurer at the conference.
The most recent scholarship recipients are:
